Privacy

What personal information this website collects, and what we do with it.

This notice explains what the Paris Institute for Critical Thinking does with personal data when you visit parisinstitute.org or write to us. The short version: the site itself sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no form that collects your details.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is the Paris Institute for Critical Thinking, a non-profit association (association à but non lucratif, loi de 1901, RNA W751243904) domiciled at the Maison de la Vie Associative et Citoyenne de Paris Centre – site Marais, 5 rue Perrée, 75003 Paris, France. Write to us at info@parisinstitute.org. The legal notice gives the association’s details in full.

What the site stores on your device

  • Cookies. The site sets none.
  • Your theme choice. If you press the light/dark theme button, the site saves your choice (the word “light” or “dark”) in your browser’s local storage, under the name pict-theme, so that it can show the same theme next time. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. If you never press the button, nothing is saved. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

What the site loads from others

Nothing. The pages, images, fonts, scripts and the search index all come from parisinstitute.org itself. The site has no analytics, advertising, social-media widgets or embedded players. Search runs in your browser against an index file that the site serves, so what you type is not sent to a search service.

What our host processes

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (see the legal notice). To deliver the site to you and to protect it from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data about each visit, such as your IP address, the page you ask for, your browser type and the time of the request. It does so on our behalf as our hosting provider. We run no analytics of our own on top of it. Cloudflare is a United States company; its privacy policy explains how it handles this data.

If you write to us

When you email info@parisinstitute.org, we use your email address and what you write to reply to you.

Our pages link to other sites, among them SoundCloud and YouTube for podcasts and recordings, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, booksellers, and the publications we cite. These are plain links: nothing from those sites loads until you follow one. Once you do, that site’s own terms and privacy policy apply, including any cookies it sets.

Newsletter and payments

The site does not yet offer a newsletter or any way to pay online. A sign-up form may still appear on some pages; it is switched off and cannot send anything. This notice will be updated when a newsletter or payments are offered.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you may ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, and for its correction, erasure, restriction or portability. You may also object to our use of it. To use any of these rights, write to info@parisinstitute.org and say which one.

If you think we have not respected your rights, you may complain to the French data-protection authority, the CNIL (Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés), at cnil.fr/fr/plaintes.
